This code of conduct applies to everyone taking part in WDC, online and at any in-person event hosted by or associated with WDC.

Our pledge

We're committed to a harassment-free community for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

What we expect

Use welcoming and inclusive language.
Respect differing viewpoints and experiences.
Accept constructive criticism gracefully.
Use people's preferred pronouns, or gender-neutral ones when you're not sure.

Unacceptable behaviour

Trolling, insults, derogatory comments, and public or private harassment.
Publishing someone's private information, such as a physical or email address, without explicit permission.
Ignoring boundaries like "leave me alone", "go away" or "I'm not discussing this with you".
Sexualised language or imagery, and unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
Assuming or promoting any kind of inequality.
Attacking people's personal tastes.
Deliberate intimidation, stalking or following.
Harassing photography or recording.
Sustained disruption of talks or other events.
Inappropriate physical contact.
Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above.
Any other conduct you know could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.

Sexual language and imagery aren't appropriate anywhere at the event, including in talks.

Enforcement

If you're asked to stop harassing behaviour, you must stop immediately. Organisers may take any action they consider appropriate, from a warning up to expulsion from the conference without a refund. They may also act against any behaviour that disrupts the event or creates a hostile environment. This applies at the venue and at all event-related social activities.

Reporting

If something makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as you can. You can report in person or anonymously.

Anonymously

Use our anonymous report form. We won't be able to follow up with you, but we'll still investigate and take action.

When you report in person:

We'll make sure you're safe and can't be overheard.
You're welcome to bring someone to support you.
You won't be asked to confront anyone.
We'll keep your identity confidential.

We're also happy to help you contact venue security, the police or support services, or to arrange an escort.
